TGIF, my friends and it’s December 1, the official start of the Christmas season (even if we’ve been listening to Christmas music for two weeks!!). I hope you’ve had a great week and survived all of the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales! I am happy to report my shopping is almost finished and I’m hoping to get it all wrapped this weekend while watching Love Actually. I’m ahead of the game this year and I’m hoping to spend the month enjoying all of the fun activities we have planned!
As always, I’m linking up today with Andrea, Erika and Narci to share my favorites from the week.
Two weeks ago, I shared some hostess gift ideas (here) and then the other day I spotted these in Starbucks and LOVED them!
I haven’t been cooking a lot this week but I did make a really yummy dinner on Monday. I’ve been trying to get into the whole Meatless Monday thing and decided to try this recipe for Mujadara. I omitted the yogurt sauce #becausedairy and added chopped tomato to the cucumber garnish (I think this was left out in the original instructions). I served it over a bed of lettuce with a little hummus. It was really good and totally reminiscent of the mujadara from Aladdin’s, which is what I was hoping for!
Some of my new front porch decor is also a current favorite! I wanted to add some Christmas touches out there but didn’t want to spend more money on Christmas “crap” (as my dad would say). I hopped on Pinterest for some ideas and then started searching around the house for items I could use. It’s extra special because the galvanized tub was my grandfather’s. I already had a roll of burlap, which I added to the tub. Then, I filled it with an upside down flower pot and topped it with an old wreath I wasn’t using. I added a pop of red and some pinecones. I’m so happy with the way it turned out!
And please ignore the cobwebs in the background. I know I need to go back out there and clean it up!
He’s been so good about reading them to his little sister, which just warms my heart so much!
The stories are really cute and my kids both love them!
I mean, look at that face! How could they not love it?

And in case you missed it, on Monday I shared some books I have recently read and loved. You can check out the post here.
That’s it for today. I hope you all had a great weekend. We have plans to kick off the holiday season at Country Lights tonight at the Farmpark!!
Disclosure: I received the Aaron Blabey books in the mail, at no cost to me. As always, all opinions are my own.
