Happy Friday, Friends! I’m linking up again today with Andrea, Erika and Narci to bring you my favorites from the week. I’m so ready for the weekend!! My hubby comes home from a business trip today and we have no plans this weekend (other than our continued work on reorganizing the house and watching the OSU/Michigan State game…Go Bucks!!) and I’m so looking forward to a short week next week before we’re all home together for Thanksgiving weekend.
So I have to admit, my little guy and I did not have the best week this week for a lot of reasons, which resulted in us butting heads a lot. In an attempt to salvage the week, I took him out on a special day on Wednesday and we had such a nice day!
We started with lunch out at Tommy’s on Coventry and I got my usual, the Donna salad. They seriously have the best hummus ever! We also shared some fries (thank you Tommy’s for the designated fryers!!), which are also the best.
After lunch, we stopped at Piccadilly for dessert (because let’s face it, I’m not capable of being in the area and not going to both places). I had the chocolate raspberry vegan frozen yogurt with raspberries and pecans. I’m so grateful to be able to go here and have the vegan fro-yo with coconut milk instead of only having sorbet as a dairy free option. Please Piccadilly, open a location further east!!!
After lunch, we headed to the Dinosaur Exhibit at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History. We dug for dinosaur bones and my little guy zipped through all of the exhibits at lightning speed. He loves this place, but man he flies through it!
In addition to the dinosaurs, he particularly liked the earthquake machine. He must have sat through those earthquakes at least ten times. We had a good day and he loved it, but it’s definitely a place we hit once a year. The dinosaur exhibit was fun, but it was also really small. I was more impressed with the mastodon exhibit last year. I’m really looking forward to the renovations and think it will definitely become a favorite spot once they update it.
It also occurred to me during our day, that this is probably one of the last big outings we’ll have like this, just the two of us. As excited as we are to add to the family, I have thoroughly loved the past five years with just him and he and I have so much fun together when we’re out and about. Things are about to get a whole lot more complicated around here!
Another bright spot of the week was this meal I made for Taco Tuesday: Simple Asian Tacos. You can find the recipe here. It was so ridiculously easy, which is exactly what we all need in a weeknight dinner, especially this time of the year. Regardless of whether or not you’re gluten free, it’s a winner…just substitute traditional flour tortillas for the gluten free ones!!
With Thanksgiving coming next week, I thought I would also repost this recipe for my Cranberry Moscow Mule. I love this drink year round, but it’s particularly festive around the holidays. If I wasn’t seven months pregnant, I can promise you I would be enjoying one or two on Thanksgiving Day. I might even make a mocktail for myself and just leave out the vodka.
It’s no secret that I’m a Gap girl and I love their Gap Body/Pure Body lines. Well, I ordered these pants a few months ago and am in love. They are seriously the most comfortable pants ever, regardless of whether or not you’re pregnant. You’ll be finding me in these and my “blardigan” all winter long, both before and after I have this baby. Watch out for coupon codes this holiday season and snatch up a pair for yourself!
That’s it for today. Have a fabulous weekend and come back on Monday. I’ll be sharing some great ideas for teacher gifts for the holidays!!
