Happy Hump Day! It’s hard to believe but school starts two weeks from today and while I’m sad to see summer end, I’m definitely looking forward to getting us all back on a schedule and into a regular routine. It’s been awhile since I’ve done a “Day in the Life” post so I recorded the day on Monday. For whatever reason, I always enjoy reading these posts on other blogs. I guess it’s just fun to see how other people schedule their days. I also thought I would enjoy looking back on a lazy summer day down the road.
I woke up at 7:30 and had some quiet time in bed on my iPad, checking social media and reading other blogs. At 8:15, I went to wake the kids up. They’ve been sleeping in a lot this summer so I’m trying to ease them into an earlier wake up time. I’m shooting for 8:00 this week and closer to 7:00 next week.
After getting the baby up, we headed in to wake her big brother and they had some snuggle time together. Seeing their love for one another always melts by heart. #letshopeitsticks
We headed downstairs and I made smoothies for breakfast, which I forgot to take a picture of. I put banana, almond butter, plain yogurt, dates, cinnamon, flax, raw cacao powder spinach and ice in their. Mine had almond milk, almond butter, cinnamon, cacao powder, dates, flax, spinach and ice. After breakfast, we got dressed and headed out.
We went to the library first and my little guy picked out some new shark books and readers.
And I chased this one around so she wouldn’t pull all of the books off of the shelves.
After the library, we went for a walk and stopped at a stream to play a bit.
If you’re local, this is the backside of Penitentiary Glen and you access it by going down the hill behind the Kirtland library. It’s one of my favorite spots in Lake County!
After our walk, I tried to get a cute pic of the kids by the flowers, but failed.
My baby girl wouldn’t cooperate because all she wanted to do was climb these steps. She is MUCH more of a climber than her brother ever was which has already landed us in the doctor’s office.
Around noon, we headed home for lunch and had leftovers.
At 1:00, I put the baby down for her nap and did the “naptime hustle”, trying to get a few things done around the house. I emptied the dishwasher.
I snuck in an episode of Big Little Lies while folding some laundry.
And then I headed downstairs to find out what this one was up to. #ohmyword
He plays well by himself but oh, the mess!
Around 2:30, this little cutie woke up.
And we headed outside to play for a bit.
On a whim, I decided to take the training wheels off of my little guy’s bike. He has no motivation to learn how to ride a two wheeler so I’m hoping this will help him.
Then I packed up the kids to run some errands. We headed to Target. #obviously
And then we headed to Babies R Us before meeting my husband at the car dealership to drop off my car to have some work done.
We headed home for dinner, which was more leftovers. I LOVE leftovers. So easy!!
My husband smoked ribs over the weekend and my kids love them!
After dinner, I put this one to bed while the boys played wiffle ball outside.
I hopped in the shower and put the laundry away. #somuchlaundry
After my little guy headed upstairs with his dad, I treated myself to a glass of wine and an episode of Big Little Lies out on our deck. #blardiganforthewin
I headed upstairs to read at 10:00 and it was lights out at 11:00!
